Potchefstroom: Yesterday, Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court remanded 35-year-old Simphiwe Mahlangu in custody until next week Monday, 23 November 2015 for possession of drugs.

Potchefstroom: Yesterday, Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court remanded 35-year-old Simphiwe Mahlangu in custody until next week Monday, 23 November 2015 for possession of drugs.

Mahlangu, 35, was arrested over the past weekend by Rustenburg police during a stop and search operation. Mahlangu was spotted acting suspiciously in Rustenburg CBD at the corners of Fatima Bhayat and Nelson Mandela Roads, alighting from a vehicle with a plastic bag in his hand. He was stopped and searched by the police members who checked the contents of the plastic bag. Drugs (nyaope) with an estimated street value of R20 000 packed in small plastic bags ready to be sold were found.

The Rustenburg station commander Brigadier Gift Makhubela applauded the members for their vigilance and the swift arrest.
